The series, which aired from 1997 to 2007, was based on Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin’s 1994 film and continued the tale a year later. After returning to Netflix in late 2020, Stargate SG-1 was withdrawn on December 1, 2022, when Amazon consolidated MGM’s catalog for Prime Video after acquiring the studio. The newly announced license agreement returns the flagship series to Netflix, although it only pertains to Stargate SG-1 and does not include spinoffs such as Stargate: Atlantis or Stargate: Universe, which are still exclusive to Prime Video.
