Robert Carradine, a ‘Revenge of the Nerds’ and ‘Lizzie McGuire’ star, died at 71

Robert Carradine, a ‘Revenge of the Nerds’ and ‘Lizzie McGuire’ star, died at 71

“He was the kindest, sweetest, and most loving person one could ever hope to meet,” said Richard Gabai, his Party Nerds Pop-Cast co-host.

Robert Carradine, who appeared in the 1980s cult film Revenge of the Nerds and gained a new generation of fans in the early 2000s with Lizzie McGuire, died at the age of 71.

Carradine’s Party Nerds Pop-Cast co-host Richard Gabai confirmed his death in a message to Rolling Stone on Monday, February 23.

“I’ve lost my best friend today. He was the kindest, sweetest, and most loving person you could ever meet,” Gabai added.

“I feel very blessed to have had him in my life and will miss him dearly.”

Keith Carradine, the actor’s brother, issued a separate statement to Deadline, which first reported his death.

In a world that sometimes seems so dark, Bobby was always a beacon of light to those around him.

We are heartbroken by the passing of this precious soul and wish to honor Bobby’s heroic battle with bipolar disorder over the last nearly two decades.

Robert Carradine, a ‘Revenge of the Nerds’ and ‘Lizzie McGuire’ star, died at 71

We hope that his story will shed awareness and urge people to address the stigma associated with mental illness.

At this time, we want privacy to grieve this unimaginable loss. Thank you for your understanding and compassion.

Keith stated that his family wanted people to be aware of the actor’s bipolar disease. “We want people to know it, and there is no shame in it,” Keith told me.

“It was an illness that got the best of him, and I want to honor him for his struggle and his lovely soul. He was incredibly gifted, and we will miss him every day.

We will find solace in his ability to be hilarious, intelligent, and completely accepting and tolerant. That is who my baby brother was.

Carradine was born on March 24, 1954, in Los Angeles, into an American family of well-known performers.

His mother, Sonia Sorel, was an actress and artist, and his father, John Carradine, was a popular and well-known character actor. He has two older brothers, Keith and Christopher, as well as two older half-brothers, David and Bruce, from his father’s previous marriage.

When asked in November on the Brett Allan Show podcast what advice Carradine gives to young performers, he answered, “I tell them what my father told me and my brothers:

Attempting to acquire a strong literary education often halts their progress.

Carradine eventually gained a new generation of fans in the early 2000s for his portrayal of father Sam McGuire in Lizzie McGuire.

He described the assignment as a “godsend” in a 2013 interview with Pop Dose. “I didn’t expect them to choose someone like me as Lizzie’s father.

And then I found out later that they’d written this person to be loose and carefree, which I am,” he remarked.

Homeland Security will stop the TSA PreCheck and Global Entry airport security services

Homeland Security will stop the TSA PreCheck and Global Entry airport security services

Democrats accuse DHS of ‘kneecapping’ schemes that expedite registered travelers through screening queues.

The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has suspended the TSA PreCheck and Global Entry airport screening systems while the partial government shutdown persists.

The programs aim to help registered travelers swiftly navigate through security lines. Suspending them may cause headaches for passengers.

Kristi Noem, Homeland Security Secretary, stated in a statement that “shutdowns have serious real-world consequences.” She additionally disclosed that “TSA and [Customs and Border Protection] CBP.”

The bans will begin at 6 a.m. ET on Sunday, according to the Washington Post, which first reported the move.

Homeland Security will stop the TSA PreCheck and Global Entry airport security services

The TSA’s PreCheck program allows qualified passengers to go through a speedier security line at US airports, which is intended to minimize wait times.

Global Entry expedites US customs and immigration processing for pre-approved, low-risk overseas travelers entering the US.

Some US airlines chastised DHS for providing travelers little notice of the temporary suspension.

The bans were announced on “extremely short notice to travelers, giving them little time to plan accordingly,” he added, imploring Congress to “get a deal done.”

A comparable stoppage last year resulted in $6.1 billion in losses for the travel industry and allied sectors, he said.

The partial government shutdown began on February 14 when Democrats and the White House were unable to reach an agreement on legislation to finance the DHS.

Democrats have demanded adjustments to immigration operations, which are central to President Donald Trump’s deportation agenda.

Democrats on the House Homeland Security Committee were critical of the airport security decision.

Due to the DHS shutdown, the Trump administration instructed the Federal Emergency Management Agency, a division of the Department of Homeland Security, to halt the deployment of hundreds of assistance personnel to disaster-affected areas.

Luka Doncic and the Lakers hold off the Clippers, while Kawhi Leonard leaves late

Luka Doncic and the Lakers hold off the Clippers, while Kawhi Leonard leaves late

Doncic scores 38 points for the Lakers, who beat the Clippers 125-122 on Friday thanks to a rare partnership of James and Reaves.

Due to injuries, the trio has only played 11 games together this season, so their first game since the All-Star break is a pleasant comeback.

Despite losing Kawhi Leonard to ankle pain, the Clippers nearly completed a comeback in an exciting Crypto.com Arena game.

For the 11th time in 55 games this season, the Lakers’ Luka Doncic, LeBron James, and Austin Reaves shared the court.

They are the Lakers’ core, the engines that propel the club forward, but health difficulties have kept them from playing together for far too long.

Doncic, Reaves, and James led the Lakers to a 125-122 victory over the Clippers on Friday night at Crypto.com Arena, their first game back from the All-Star break.

Doncic finished with 38 points, 11 assists, and six rebounds despite missing the previous four games due to a hamstring injury.

Reaves finished with 29 points and six rebounds and made a key defensive play late in the game. James also had 13 points and 11 assists, marking his fifth consecutive game with 10 or more assists.

With 1:49 remaining, Reaves drew a charge on Bennedict Mathurin, his sixth foul, sending him to the bench with 26 points.

Luka Doncic and the Lakers hold off the Clippers, while Kawhi Leonard leaves late

Doncic converted two free throws with 21.2 seconds remaining to give the Lakers a five-point advantage.

With a 125-122 lead and the ball in the final seconds, James attempted a risky cross-court pass intended for Doncic, but Nicolas Batum intercepted it.

But Batum missed a potential tying three-pointer, and James grabbed the rebound to seal the victory.

The Lakers (34-21) started with two defenders on Kawhi Leonard, creating a mob of defenders surrounding the Clippers’ finest offensive weapon, particularly while playing zone defense.

Leonard was throwing it to the Lakers, but he departed late in the fourth quarter due to left ankle pain, finishing with 31 points on 11-for-19 shooting.

Before the game, Lakers coach JJ Redick stated that Leonard is back to his dominant form on both sides of the court.

That’s why the Lakers’ game plan focused heavily on slowing Leonard, who entered the season ranked ninth in the NBA in scoring (27.8) and tied for first in steals (2.0).

“He’s more consistently taking the tougher assignments right now, and he’s back to being just an elite two-way player on both ends of the floor,” Redick told reporters.

Leonard is a major reason why the Clippers (27-29) are still pressing forward. 500, despite trading two of its top three scorers, guard James Harden and center Ivica Zubac.

The Clippers began the season 6-21 and looked nothing like a playoff squad. But then they beat the Lakers on December 20 and were on a 21-7 run heading into Friday night’s game, bringing them within one game of. 500 during a two-month span.

Coach Tyronn Lue stated before the game that none of the Clippers had given up on the season and that they were always “playing to win” regardless of whether they had “young, old, or toddlers” on the court.

“I just feel confident,” Lue explained. “I am confident in our players, in our coaching staff, and in the environment and culture that we have established.

Why wouldn’t we want to play for the win? That is our mindset.

That’s how I feel every night. You’re playing to win, no matter how difficult the situation is or whether you start 6-21.

So we made it to the playoffs, and anything can happen. So our goal is to get to the playoffs. I don’t understand why someone would dismiss that.”

Utah State beats Boise State to win the Mountain West sweep

Utah State beats Boise State to win the Mountain West sweep

Aggies increase their lead in the MWC standings; Broncos drop to 7-8 in league play.

On Wednesday at Smith Spectrum, the Utah State men’s basketball team swept Boise State in the Mountain West regular season.

The Aggies led by seven points at halftime and then dominated the Broncos in the second half, winning 75-56.

Mason Falslev led the Aggies (23-3, 13-2) with 17 points as they won their eighth straight game.

Drew Fielder led Boise State (15-11, 7-8) with 14 points and 8 rebounds.

Here are three lessons from Wednesday’s blowout loss.

Broncos blow a promising start

Utah State dominated the January game at ExtraMile Arena, scoring the first 10 points on their route to a 46-23 halftime advantage and a 93-68 victory.

The Broncos got out to a much stronger start on Wednesday, taking a 21-14 lead at 8:35 on a Dominic Parolin transition hoop. Utah State responded with a 9-0 run, regaining the lead on a Kolby King three-pointer.

Utah State beats Boise State to win the Mountain West sweep

The Aggies finished the half on a 16-2 run, leading 30-23. Adlan Elamin then sank a three to start the second half and added another to make the score 47-32.

Utah State maintained its lead in the MWC standings.

Utah State ramps up defensive pressure

The high-powered Broncos were limited to a season low 56 points at Smith Spectrum.

Boise State shot 31 of 57 (37 percent) from the field and 7 of 22 (32 percent) from beyond the arc against Utah State’s tough zone defense. The Broncos went to the foul line only nine times and made seven.

In the first half, the Broncos committed eight turnovers and three shot clock violations. Boise State ended with 12 turnovers and four shot clock violations.

The Broncos had a dreadful night in front of a loud Utah State home crowd.

The Broncos were competing for the MWC Tournament seeding

Following Wednesday’s play, Boise State is alone in seventh place in the MWC rankings, six games behind Utah State with six regular-season games left.

More crucially, the Broncos are virtually four games behind Grand Canyon (17-9, 10-5) in fourth place. The Lopes hold the tiebreaker after a dominating home-and-home sweep.

The top four teams receive first-round byes in the MWC Tournament.

With a bye off the table until Grand Canyon collapses, Boise State can still compete for seeding in the MWC Tournament. Earning the fifth or sixth seed would result in a more advantageous first-round matchup versus Air Force (3-23, 0-15) or San Jose State (7-19, 2-13).

The Broncos’ sole path to the NCAA Tournament is to win four games in four days in the Mountain West Conference Tournament. Locking up the No. 5 or No. 6 seed would make the challenge more manageable.

New Orleans celebrates Mardi Gras, the extravagant end to Carnival season

New Orleans celebrates Mardi Gras, the extravagant end to Carnival season

NEW ORLEANS, La. (AP) — As people return to work Tuesday after a long holiday weekend, beads will fly, crawfish will boil, and parades will roll in New Orleans to commemorate Mardi Gras.

Mardi Gras, also known as Fat Tuesday, is the culmination and finish of the weeks-long Carnival season, providing one last opportunity for indulgence, feasting, and revelry before the Christian Lent period of sacrifice and reflection.

The joyful farewell to Carnival always occurs the day before Ash Wednesday.

One of the final parades in Louisiana’s most populous city, which is famous for its Mardi Gras celebration, is organized by the Zulu Social Aide & Pleasure Club.

New Orleans celebrates Mardi Gras, the extravagant end to Carnival season

Marchers and float riders in the Zulu parade dress in African-inspired attire and chuck “throws”—gifts such as plastic beads, candies, doubloons, stuffed animals, cups, and toys.

The parade’s distinctive “throw” is hand-decorated coconuts, which are much sought after by many attendees.

Later in the day, Rex, the King of Carnival, will parade down St. Charles Avenue, flanked by paradegoers and magnificent oak trees draped in Spanish moss and beads.

Carnival events are known for their spectacular and massive floats, as well as the intricately crafted outfits worn by participants, such as Black masking Indians, whose beaded and bejeweled costumes are topped with feathered headdresses, or paradegoers walking through the French Quarter in homemade costumes that capture the unique spirit of the Big Easy.

The good times will roll not only in New Orleans but throughout the state, from exclusive balls to the Cajun French tradition of the Courir de Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday Run, a rural event in Central Louisiana where costumed participants perform, beg for ingredients, and chase after live chickens to be cooked in a communal gumbo.

Other Gulf Coast communities, including Mobile, Alabama, and Pensacola, Florida, hold parades, while Brazil and Europe host world-renowned celebrations as well.

Costco’s Return Policy Crackdown 2026: Stricter Enforcement Sparks Member Complaints

Costco’s Return Policy Crackdown 2026: Stricter Enforcement Sparks Member Complaints

Costco’s Return Policy 2026: What Members Should Know

Costco continues to offer one of the most generous return policies in the retail sector. While recent social media reports point to a “crackdown,” the cornerstone of Costco’s “Risk-Free 100% Satisfaction Guarantee” remains unchanged.

To provide a smooth experience, all members should be aware of specific rules and the latest operational improvements.

1. Core Policy: “Satisfaction Guaranteed”

Costco customers can return practically any merchandise at any time if they are dissatisfied.

Unlike most businesses, Costco normally allows returns of general products after 30 days.

2. The “90-Day Rule” in Electronics

To discourage “rental” abuse (when customers buy a product for a short-term occasion and return it),

Costco implements a 90-day return window for the following categories:

Electronic devices include televisions, projectors, laptops, and desktop computers.

Major appliances (e.g., refrigerators, washers, and dryers)

Devices include touchscreen tablets, smartwatches, cameras, drones, and camcorders, as well as MP3 players and cell phones.

Costco’s Return Policy Crackdown 2026: Stricter Enforcement Sparks Member Complaints

3. Notable exceptions and limitations.

Not everything is returnable. The items below have strict limitations:

Diamonds: Returns of 1.00 ct or more require original paperwork and a 48-hour authenticity verification by a Costco gemologist.

Returns for cigarettes and alcohol are illegal in several jurisdictions.

Shop Cards are nonrefundable and cannot be redeemed for cash.

Custom Installations: Items made to your specifications (such as flooring or blinds) cannot be returned.

4. Recent Operational Shifts (2025–2026)

While the statutory policy hasn’t changed, Costco has made two significant operational changes to increase efficiency and reduce fraud:

Membership Scanning at Entry: Since late 2024, many warehouses have installed digital scanners at the door.

This connects your visit to your digital history, making it easy for personnel to confirm purchases at the return counter even if you’ve misplaced your physical receipt.

Digital Receipts via the App: Costco now encourages the use of the Costco App, which stores all historical receipts. Employees may now check “no-receipt” returns much more quickly.

5. Can You Get Banned for Too Many Returns?

There is no “hard limit” to returns, but Costco membership is a privilege.

If a member’s history indicates a regular habit of returning used things or returning a large percentage of everything they buy.

Slot: “Nice” to see Salah score

Slot: “Nice” to see Salah score

Liverpool’s FA Cup victory over Brighton by three goals is a much-needed outcome in light of the club’s turbulent season.

And, while fans have every right to be skeptical of improvement given the team’s lack of consistency in Premier League play, perhaps beating a Premier League team—after being the first team to beat Sunderland at home in the league—will give people a little more hope.

Good feelings, it turns out, are much easier to have when you score three goals, keep a clean sheet, and get some primetime performances from players who may have been underperforming for the majority of the season.

And, in reality, there were no poor performances on the Anfield pitch. To a man, Liverpool completely dominated Fabian Hurzeler’s charges in what felt like a lopsided victory.

Arne Slot’s post-match comments were enthusiastic, if characteristically direct. Perhaps the most noteworthy set of statements came in relation to Mohamed Salah, when the Dutchman praised not only Salah’s offensive contributions but also his willingness to assist in defense.

Slot: “Nice” to see Salah score

“It’s great to see [Salah] scoring again and assisting. But I think what I enjoy best about him right now is that he not only scores goals, but he also contributes significantly to the team’s defensive efforts.

That is really positive—something the team also requires—and I believe that more and more players are now capable of playing at this level every three days.

That was where we suffered the most in the beginning of the season, when it was difficult for us to maintain the effort level once a week, let alone every three days.

But now that we can, we’re seeing more and more of our own qualities.

That’s why I’ve stated so many times that the future of this club looks very bright with these players, and I believe the last seven, eight, nine, and ten games have demonstrated that as well.”

It’s a small peek behind the curtain, but it was evident that Slot’s tactical decision to relieve Mo of some defensive duties last season was contributing to some of the structural issues during the lull in October and November.

While the team has still not entirely recovered, the last few games have looked significantly better, not only in terms of results but also in terms of appearance.

Liverpool appear to have an understanding on offense and, while far from faultless, have managed to avoid looking like a total farce at the back despite what can be charitably described as a right-back crisis.

Diagnosing faults in football is challenging since the game is so fluid, with each player influencing numerous facets of the general flow. So we can’t blame Mo for all of the early-season troubles.

However, watching the team regain some sort of control at the. Liverpool’s upward trend has been helped by the return of Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, and Florian Wirtz.

In fact, the Hungarian left-back appears to have completely turned things around, as he put in a Player of the Match performance, which is impressive given how talented the entire group is.

Liverpool is in a terrific place right now, but they need to keep stringing together performances like this to undo the cynicism gained during their early-season collapse and overcome the hole that those losses have dug for the Reds.

Liverpool are vying for a Champions League spot and will need to play flawlessly over the next two and a half months to remain in contention.

Here’s hoping that passing two relatively difficult tests will help the team finally get into gear.

Goldman Sachs’ top lawyer resigns upon the exposure of the Epstein relationship

Goldman Sachs’ top lawyer resigns upon the exposure of the Epstein relationship

Emails show Kathy Ruemmler had strong ties to a convicted sexual abuser she dubbed ‘Uncle Jeffrey.’

Kathy Ruemmler, Goldman Sachs‘ top lawyer and former White House counsel to Barack Obama, has resigned in the wake of emails revealing a strong relationship between her and Jeffrey Epstein, whom she referred to as “Uncle Jeffrey.”

Ruemmler announced in a statement on Thursday that she will “step down as Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel of Goldman Sachs as of June 30, 2026.””

Ruemmler had frequently tried to separate herself from the emails and other correspondence prior to her retirement, and she was adamant about not resigning from Goldman’s top legal position, which she had held since 2020.

While Ruemmler has referred to Epstein as a “monster” in recent utterances, she had a quite different relationship with him before he was arrested for sex crimes a second time in 2019 and later committed suicide in a Manhattan jail; Ruemmler referred to Epstein as “Uncle Jeffrey” in emails and said she cherished him.

Prior to her resignation, a Goldman Sachs spokeswoman stated that Ruemmler “regrets ever knowing him.”

Ruemmler received several pricey presents from Epstein during her time in private practice after leaving the White House in 2014. These included fancy purses and a fur coat. The presents were presented after Epstein was convicted of sex crimes in 2008 and registered as a sex offender.

“Very gorgeous and thoughtful! Thank you, Uncle Jeffrey!!!” Ruemmler contacted Epstein in 2018.

Historically, Wall Street has frowned on gift-giving between clients and bankers or Wall Street lawyers, especially high-end presents that could create a conflict of interest. According to the company’s code of conduct, Goldman Sachs requires its employees to obtain pre-approval before accepting or offering gifts from clients, in part to avoid violating anti-bribery legislation.

Goldman Sachs’ top lawyer resigns upon the exposure of the Epstein relationship

Ruemmler was a member of Goldman Sachs’ leadership team, ranking among the firm’s top executives. As late as December, Goldman CEO David Solomon praised Ruemmler as an “excellent lawyer” and stated that she had his whole trust and support.

Solomon said in a statement on Thursday, “As one of the most accomplished experts in her area, Kathy has also been a mentor and friend to many of our employees, and she will be missed. I accept her resignation and appreciate her decision.

Epstein also called Ruemmler’s cell phone when he was arrested on July 6, 2019, among other calls he made that night, according to two documents citing police notes.

In a separate letter, the Federal Bureau of Investigation quoted Epstein as stating on the same day, “Is this about sex trafficking? “Is this about underage?”

According to the unnamed author of the FBI document, Epstein remarked things like, “Oh, this is bad, this is pretty bad.”

According to the records, Ruemmler communicated with Epstein often between 2014 and 2019, even after the notorious financier pleaded guilty in 2008 to recruiting a person under the age of 18 for prostitution.

These contacts included coaching Epstein on how to respond to a media inquiry in 2019 about alleged privileged legal treatment he received due to his connections, according to the emails.

Twitch Streamer Rakai and Piper Rockelle Are Dating: ‘We ‘re Just Having Fun’

Twitch Streamer Rakai and Piper Rockelle Are Dating: ‘We ‘re Just Having Fun’

Piper Rockelle announced on Wednesday that she is dating Twitch streamer Rakai, putting an end to weeks of speculation following their appearance together at the Super Bowl.

“We were just having fun,” Rockelle told People.

Rockelle, 18, rose to prominence as a child star and founder of the “Piper Squad,” a group of preteen YouTubers in the late 2010s.

She described her new relationship as calm.

“I believe that just works for us. People will talk no matter what. But, at the end of the day, we have fun, I feel comfortable around Rakai, and I get to spend time with someone I care about. That is what matters.

Rumors about the couple first arose in January, when Rakai shared a selfie of the two in a hot tub.

Twitch Streamer Rakai and Piper Rockelle Are Dating: ‘We ‘re Just Having Fun’

Rockelle later uploaded photos of him in a hotel room and of them sitting together at the Super Bowl.

“I’m not really someone who rushes to label things,” she said. “The images, however, reveal what is happening.

I also won’t pretend there isn’t anything there. “You can see it.”

In 2025, Rockelle was romantically linked to social media celebrity Capri Jones. She told Rolling Stone that their connection began as a “social media relationship” but became contentious after they executed an April Fools’ joke about adultery.

Weeks after their breakup, Jones acknowledged in a video that he cheated amid a “really, really tough time.”

Earlier this year, Rockelle made headlines for opening an account on OnlyFans and earning nearly $2.9 million on her first day.

“I’m not going to be a kid forever,” she told Rolling Stone, adding that she used some of the money to get her grandmother a car.

“I thrive off of the hate,” Rockelle remarked in another interview.

“To be honest, I believe that hatred has kept me alive for a very long time.” “Without it, I would have become somewhat irrelevant.”
