Robert Carradine, a ‘Revenge of the Nerds’ and ‘Lizzie McGuire’ star, died at 71
“He was the kindest, sweetest, and most loving person one could ever hope to meet,” said Richard Gabai, his Party Nerds Pop-Cast co-host.
Robert Carradine, who appeared in the 1980s cult film Revenge of the Nerds and gained a new generation of fans in the early 2000s with Lizzie McGuire, died at the age of 71.
Carradine’s Party Nerds Pop-Cast co-host Richard Gabai confirmed his death in a message to Rolling Stone on Monday, February 23.
“I’ve lost my best friend today. He was the kindest, sweetest, and most loving person you could ever meet,” Gabai added.
“I feel very blessed to have had him in my life and will miss him dearly.”
Keith Carradine, the actor’s brother, issued a separate statement to Deadline, which first reported his death.

We are heartbroken by the passing of this precious soul and wish to honor Bobby’s heroic battle with bipolar disorder over the last nearly two decades.
We hope that his story will shed awareness and urge people to address the stigma associated with mental illness.

Keith stated that his family wanted people to be aware of the actor’s bipolar disease. “We want people to know it, and there is no shame in it,” Keith told me.
“It was an illness that got the best of him, and I want to honor him for his struggle and his lovely soul. He was incredibly gifted, and we will miss him every day.
We will find solace in his ability to be hilarious, intelligent, and completely accepting and tolerant. That is who my baby brother was.
Carradine was born on March 24, 1954, in Los Angeles, into an American family of well-known performers.
His mother, Sonia Sorel, was an actress and artist, and his father, John Carradine, was a popular and well-known character actor. He has two older brothers, Keith and Christopher, as well as two older half-brothers, David and Bruce, from his father’s previous marriage.
When asked in November on the Brett Allan Show podcast what advice Carradine gives to young performers, he answered, “I tell them what my father told me and my brothers:

Carradine eventually gained a new generation of fans in the early 2000s for his portrayal of father Sam McGuire in Lizzie McGuire.
He described the assignment as a “godsend” in a 2013 interview with Pop Dose. “I didn’t expect them to choose someone like me as Lizzie’s father.
And then I found out later that they’d written this person to be loose and carefree, which I am,” he remarked.
